Now if you couldn’t tell by now, I know my fair share about bulking. I mention the topic at least once in almost all of my articles and even have multiple articles dedicated to the subject entirely. Which is why today, I have decided to also talk about bulking again.
However, I have decided to switch things up and talk about the supplementation side of things, as today, my fellow lifters; I will be talking about the 3 best supplements for bulking.
What Are The Best Supplements For Bulking?
Now, each of these supplements will help with growth, recovery, strength production, energy, and a bunch of other good stuff that will be useful while bulking.
A lot of these won’t be real game changers, as 95% of your results are still going to come from proper sleep, diet, and training, but these supplements can just make the process more efficient and easier to follow.
With that, here are the 3 best supplements for bulking.
#1 Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine monohydrate, the mythical supplement that turns 13-year-olds into IFBB pros, or at least that’s what your mom would have you believe. It’s also one of the best supplements for bulking up.
Funny story my dad let me have my first beer before he let me buy creatine.
He would always tell me that stuff is steroids, and I’d always respond with then why the fuck are they selling it in a sports check at a mall.
He still didn’t let me buy it. Now creatine does work, and it works well. I actually had a pretty crazy before, and after that, I’ll be putting it up on the screen right now.

These photos were taken 12 days apart. The second one was taken right on the last day of my creatine loading phase, with the first one being taken 2 days before I got my hands on the stuff.
Now I definitely look fuller in the picture to the right, while also looking a bit puffier as well. These were both taken at the end of upper body workouts, and I believe my calorie intake was the same as well. So how exactly did this happen, and what does creatine actually do?
What Does Creatine Do?
Well, essentially, what creatine does, is it allows your muscles to carry and store more water, which will make them appear bigger, and allow them to function better, which is why I consider it to be one of the best supplements for bulking.
Now price-wise, it’s a really good bang for your buck as it’s one of the cheaper supplements you can get. You’ll look visibly bigger, and your strength and endurance will improve as well; it’s one of the best supplements for bulking on the market.
Here are the places I recommend buying from:
- MYPROTEIN
- BULK SUPPLEMENTS
- OPTIMUM NUTRITION
Alright let’s talk about the next supplement.
#2 Pre-Workout

Now like most things on this blog, this opinion may be slightly controversial, but anything that can drastically improve your performance in the gym is a plus in my eyes. Pre-workout being considered one of the best supplements for bulking may seem like a hot take, but hear me out.
A lot of old heads or hardcores may scoff at the idea of even considering using pre-workout, as to them, using pre-workout is quote, on quote cheating. Well, it is, but remember kids, if you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying.
Pre-workout is cheating, it increases your energy, stamina, focus, strength, endurance, drive, and pump, but this isn’t a regulated competition; this is bulking season, and your goal right now is to lift as much weight as humanly possible, for as many reps as you can get.
Pre-workout can help you do that, you just have to make sure you don’t build a tolerance or an addiction.
People may call you a pussy for “needing” to have stimulants in you to train, but they’re gonna be eating their words when they’re gassed out mid-way through their workout, while you’re only getting more energetic as you go.
The improvements to energy, focus, and mood pre-workout brings to training easily make it one of the best supplements for bulking.
My Pre-Workout Recommendations
If you’re looking to try a pre-workout, here are some I would recommend checking out.
- GORILLA MODE
- WRECKED PRE-WORKOUT
- TRANSPARENT LABS BULK PRE-WORKOUT
*Quick Tip- Don’t overuse pre-workout. Only use it once, maybe twice a week for your most gruelling sessions. Personally, I only use pre-workout on heavy deadlifting, or squatting days.
#3 Melatonin

What’s one of the most underrated aspects of muscle growth, SLEEP! Tons of people neglect this. Now you can still make gains and hit PRs while sleep deprived; I know I have, but it’s not sustainable nor optimal.
You need to get your Z’s in if you want to make real long-term size and strength gains. Now to make this easier on you, I would recommend buying a sleep supplement such as melatonin.
3-10 mg a night is all you need. The enhancement to overall recovery and growth that melatonin brings to the table makes it one of the best supplements for bulking.
Melatonin can be a total game-changer if you’ve never used it in the past; this stuff will knock you right out. Now I would only recommend this to those of you who have trouble getting and staying asleep.
If you have no problems getting to bed, and already have a good sleep schedule I would hold off on this supplement.
Where To Get It
Here are some places that I would recommend buying from.
- Nature’s Truth
- Piping Rock
- Amazon
You don’t need anything fancy here, any of these will do. Don’t “sleep” on melatonin (pun very much intended), as it is one of the best supplements for bulking on the market, and you totally should buy it.
Other Bulking Supplements To Add To Your Stack
Now aside from those 3, which I believe are the 3 best supplements for bulking, you should consider adding these other supplements into your stack as well.
These supplements will act more as bonuses than anything else and should not be considered an essential part of any bulking phase. Think of these as nothing more than slight quality of life changes.
Protein Powder
For those of you who just can’t seem to hit your protein goals whether it be due to dietary restrictions, your bank account, or laziness, I would recommend investing in a protein powder. Now there are so many different brands, and flavours to choose from.
I mean you have your standard chocolate, and vanilla protein powders, then you have flavours like cinnamon toast crunch and jet-puffed marshmallow.
If money’s not an issue, just go for whatever tastes the best, and make sure it has at least 25 grams of protein per serving. If money is an issue (which it usually is), the protein per serving and number of servings should be the deciding factor in your purchase.
For those of you who have some extra cash to spend, I would recommend checking out these brands:
- RYSE
- Ghost
- Revolution Nutrition
Now if money is a bit tight right now, your best bet would be Myprotein’s Impact Whey Isolate. It may not taste as good as the others, but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper.
Vitamin D3
So for those of you who don’t get outside much, or live in places that don’t get much sun, vitamin D supplementation may be something you may want to consider, especially if you’re trying to optimize muscle and strength gains.
Vitamin D3 is a crucial nutrient, that helps regulate many bodily functions, such as:
- Immunity
- Mood
- Energy
- Hormone Production
- Weight
- Bone Health
If you have trouble getting vitamin D through sunlight, and diet, you should heavily consider supplementation, as it can make a world of a difference both inside, and outside of the gym.
You can go pick up a bottle from your local drugstore, or get a few bottles off of Amazon for pretty cheap.
Zinc
Zinc just like vitamin D is another really important nutrient for optimal male health. Having a sufficient amount of zinc in your diet can improve your rate of muscle, and strength gain by a fair amount.
It won’t turn you into Mr.Olympia, but it can help you reach your goals a bit faster than you would without it. Zinc also has positive effects on testosterone, energy, mood, and sex drive as well, so there’s always that to consider.
Just like vitamin D, you can easily find these in your local drugstore, or supermarket. If you can’t be bothered to go out and get it yourself you can also order a couple months supply off of amazon as well.
Magnesium
You may be noticing a trend here, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D. 3 out of the 4 last supplements were vitamins.
Now a lot of you bros may be wondering where the BCAAs, test boosters, and other bro supplements are, and well sorry to tell you but I don’t serve bullshit on this blog unless I’m paid to.
A lot of the best supplements for bulking are pretty boring basic stuff, such as vitamins, and minerals, like magnesium. Magnesium is a crucial nutrient for peak physical and athletic performance.
Being deficient in this nutrient can really screw with your strength gains, which will also affect your size gains as a natty lifter.
Magnesium will also help with your work capacity, and durability as well. It’s a great cheap little pickup that can really help you with the training side of things while bulking.
Just like the aforementioned vitamins you can easily find this at your local drug store, supermarket, or off of Amazon.

Eating in a caloric surplus, sleeping 8-10 hours per night, and making consistent progress on all of your heavy compound lifts in the gym will give you the fastest results while bulking.
